pregnant on the pill????could be a little tmi

Hi, just wondering if anyone has gotten pregnant on the pill. Have been on Microgynon 20ed for 6 months and everything was going fine. Then 6 weeks ago i got my period a week early, spoke to doc he said to skip sugar pills and continue with the active ones. Its now been 6 weeks and i haven't got a period. Has anyone ever had this happen, i've done hpt and it comes up neg, none of the usual preg signs that i can tell so far....what is going on...getting a little concerned..thanks
ps: i haven't been on antibiotics, gotten sick, excess stress, or missed any pills..

Do you skip the sugar pills every month? If so, that would be why you haven't got a period. When you take the sugar pills, that is the time that you get your period.

There is always a possibly to fall pregnant if you are having unprotected sex. As many precautions we take sometimes it just happens. . .

The only way to tell for certainty would be to get a blood test done by your doctor. (ifyou suspect pregnancy this should be done before continueing with Birth control - just make sure you use other protection in the mean time)

But in my experiance I would assume that your period is just a little wacko from missing the suger pills.. Continue to take the pills as normal and it should return to normal. . .

Skipping your sugar pills is what causes you to miss a period. Lots of people do it when they have an important occasion like a wedding or holiday coming up, and they don't want to get their period. I don;t think you have anything to worry about

It happened to me a couple of times, but I don't remember which pill I was on. I skipped two in a row, but hadn't had sex at all when the first period didn't arrive on schedule so didn't worry. Saw my GP when the second one didn't arrive on schedule, and he decided that the pill I was on was too strong for me and changed my prescription. Got to the third... and it arrived on time and was a right shocker - started the new prescription after that one and then everything continued as normal. It sounds like something similar has happened for you, but if you are worried, see your doctor and get a blood test. It might just be a case of a different pill would suit you better.

thanks Butterfly warrior, i wondered if it was the pill. I was on it for at least 6yrs before dd1 came along and had no troubles at all. I think i'll go see the gp next week, still no period, got most of the preg symptoms but no sore boobs, maybe its all in my head...did pg test this morn and still neg..

Has anything changed recently? New medications? Weight gain/loss? What caused that to happen for me (they think) was starting a new medication which changed the way my liver processed things.

If you had your period whilst still taking the hormones pills, and you didnt miss one or take it at a different time of day, then it is breakthrough bleeding and usually happens because the doseage isn't high enough - ie you are on 20ed, but may need to be on 30ed.
This happened to me, I ended up on 50ed Go to the doctor, they will most likely take you off them altogether, allow your cycle to regulate again, then start you on a stronger pill.

I still feel like i'm not finished yet, so i suppose i'll just wait it out and see i this dissapointment goes away. thank you everyone for your help.
