How early can a heart beat been seen on Ultra Sound?

Hi, I was wondering how early the heartbeat can be seen? I am keen to reassure myself w an ultrasound to see that heart beat I guess will make it seem real Can the heartbeat be seen before 6 wks?

    Thanks

Hi and congratulations on your pregnancy. I have heard a h/b can be picked up as early as 6 weeks, but I havent heard any earlier, but then again, Im no expert, so perhaps you could 'google' that question? But I know a lot of people will give you good advice on here soon, someone will definitely have the answers for you

Hi TUP & congrats on your pregnancy.
I don't think HB can usually be found any earlier than 6 weeks.
My sister recently had 2 scans, the first there was no visible HB & the second there it was (at 7 weeks).

All the best, wishing you a H&H 9 months

Hi and congrats on your pregnancy.

I had an early dating scan post miscarriage and the hb was detected at 5 weeks 3 days, however it was slow and the sonographer suggested it must have only just started beating. I also think there was some descrepency in dates. An u/s from 6 weeks should show a hb...any earlier and its a chance that you may see it or may not.

Thanks, I had a feeling 6 wks is probably best. I did google it, but wasn't sure, some people said after 5 wks... I think I will try to get a scan at 6 wks..

    Conispatulations on your pregnancy.
Yep 6 weeks is the earliest, dont stress if they cant see it yet though. When I was 6 weeks 3 days I went for a dating scan, bub only measured 5 weeks something and there was no heartbeat. We went back a week later and there it was flickering away (he's now a very healthy 11month old. )
