I am wondering if people are strong advocates for one or the other.
I am just beginning to chart my temps as well as CM, OPK's etc and have just found a brand new digital thermometer in my cupboard which claims to be accurate +/-0.1 between 35-39 degrees celsius and +/-0.2 under 35 or over 39 degrees celsius.
I am assuming this would only be any good for testing orally? What are peoples experiences of testing orally? I will buy a BBT if they are a safer bet of course
I did temping a while ago when I was TTC my now almost 2.5 year old daughter. The first couple of months I did the temping orally and found that the variations each day were massive. Then I started temping vaginally and got much more accurate readings.
I don't see why you couldn't use the thermometer you have vaginally - as long as you keep it only for this use IYKWIM. LOL.
Hi LMM.
I charted temps when TTC with DS. I sleep with my mouth open at night which affects temps so I temped vaginally with an ovulation thermometer.
I found this way really accurate.
Good luck!
Thanks ladies, that's really helpful. I will start temping tomorrow (was up at 4am this morning watching the world cup!) Yes Danniellabella, I think I will just use the one I have orally and see if that is accurate enough to begin with.
Feeling excited as I had my first ever +OPK yesterday and have realised I must O later in my cycle than I thought....so maybe it won't be as complicated as I was anticipating to get things happening!
