    Any ideas PLEASE!!!

    Hi all,

So I am off the the dr's today so I know I should get some answers then but thought some one on here might have at least some suggestions or have experienced something similar because I am actually starting to get worried.

DS1 (who is 3 next month) has just had or possibly still his 4th gastro bug in the past 12months, as well as that he has also had 3 or 4 times where he will just vomit once or twice and go on with it, with no other symptoms or episodes. The first bought of gastro dh and I both had it and FIL was staying with us from NZ and he got it too it was very nasty and he all had it for about 24hrs, except ds1 who vomitted at least once a day (the first days obviously a lot more) for 9days straight! He would go up to 40hrs between vomits, he would appear to completely be over it and then wake in the middle of the night vomitting. We took him to the dr's a few times during this bug and they said he was ok and said to watch for dehydration etc but as time goes on and he has more and more bugs (all of which people around us have also had so are definitely bugs) but they last for ages in him and he goes fine for ages and then vomits and then he has these other strange moments of vomitting once or twice and it just doesn't sit right. It doesn't seem to be food related as he's eating different things at the time

he has gotten so accustomed to vomitting he'll ask for a bucket before it comes and one time we were driving home from getting groceries and he had a piece of pizza and we were pulling in the drive way when it became obvious he was going to be sick so we got him out on the front lawn, he vomitted and then just kept eating his pizza, surely he shouldn't be this comfortable with vomitting! Other than this he has never had anti biotics in his life so is a healthy little boy

He was formula fed he has reflux but was a happy chucker so he went onto AR formual and it was much better, one time when I went to buy formula when he was about 9.5months old they had run out of the AR one and other shops were shut so I got the normal one in the same brand and tried it with the idea I would go back tomorrow for the AR if he chucked, but he didn't so the reflux was gonee, a friend suggested this but I think with a gap of about 14months between vomitting it couldn't still be the reflux.

She also suggested Gardia, does anyone know anything about this or does anyone have any suggestions or experences or anything??

for your DS, sounds awful and I hope you can get some answers.

Giardia is a water-borne parasite and can be quite nasty, with the infrequent vomiting I'd think it would be unlikely that he has giardia, it usually causes much more severe symptoms.

Could it be from tiredness? Has he had busy days prior to the vomiting episodes?

Thanks for your reply, yea I don't think it sounds like gardia either from the googling I've done. Nope don't think its the tiredness either. I am doing the silly thing of googling and found this thing called cyclic vomitting syndrome that sounds kinda like Noah, I should stop googling

I would really like to know what your doc says as our son has the same thing. He is 19 months and has had gastro alot and also diahorrea, he will go for a week without vomitting and then have 24 hours where he throws up about 6 times, then nothing again for ages. Its very distressing isn't it! We have just asked for a referral to see a pediatrician so hopefully we will get some answers too!

    Good luck with the doc.

My DS has vomitted alot, but more in a way that you explain.
He was never much of a chucker as a baby, but then at 4 months old, power chucked a whole feed for no reason.
From then, every time he got sick with something, he'd have the odd vomit. He could just have a viral bug that included fevers & tiredness only, but would vomit every feed as he was feeding for a day or 2. Was always more fun coz he was breastfed & it would end up all over us both!!
He has these episodes every few months. He's also susceptable to motion sickness. We do alot of travelling & have known for along time now to be well prepared. More than one change of clothes, cloth nappies under his bum & more waiting, + plastic bags for dirty clothes.
I talked to my gp about it & he thinks its just DS's bodies way of reacting to being sick. Some kids just vomit if there is something slightly wrong with them, even if they appear fine on the outside. I don't know much about it really, but I've been seeing my gp for over 8 years now, so trust his oppinion alot. He's not worried at all about it, so I've never been hugely worried either.
Its frusterating when he's having a few bad days, but after speaking to the doc I know it's more than likely gonna happen & I'm ready for it knowing that he is ok.
I hope for your DS its just something simple like that & nothing more serious
