Question Has anyone ever seen or experienced this before?

My now 13 month old DD has been sick of late. I have the entire story on here... but not sure if anyone really wants to read it (lol).
Anyway, we spent 2 nights in the hospital last week after doctors were concerned about heart problems or kidney issues.....
DD's hands puffed up and went bright red. Her feet also did the same.
This has been happening since Last Weds, on and off. They'll go up and down.
None of the docs think its an allergy, but noone has any idea what it is. All her bloods came back perfect, so we were sent home. Saw GP today who has no idea. If it continues another week, we will be reffered to a Pead.
Has anyone heard of or seen this before? I've got photos, but they are on the IL's camera so I'll have to upload them tomorrow (if anyone's interested in seeing them).

Her hands swell, and go bright red. Like they've been sitting in hot water, or are sun burnt. It's usually both hands and feet. Her feet were swollen so much last Thurs at the hospital that there were no creases in them of her ankles. I'm not overly concerned, because she is eating and drinking and her happy self, but it's just baffling. There's got to be a cause of some sort?

I was just hoping that someone knew something about this at all or had seen it before. My poor little girl is a freak ( I call her my medical marvel.. LOL).

    TIA.

This happened to my dd1 at about 2 weeks old. It didn't seem to bother her either. It lasted for 24 hrs and then went away. They had no idea what caused it either. This probably doesn't help. I hope it's nothing serious and that it stops soon xx

I can't think of anything off the top of my head that would cause what you are describing. Hopefully a paediatrician will have some more insight.

Sounds like some sort of allergy. I was watching a medical show on TV a few months back and there was a little boy who kept swelling up like that (arms and legs) and they couldn't figure out for the life of them what was causing it. In the end it turned out he had an allergy to the sun.

Well I can cancel that off our list... we don't go out in the sun enough.
I suggested an allergy... although I have no idea to what, but it was shrugged off. I don't think it's an allergy because the episodes are so sporadic. I'll give it until next weds when I'll be getting a pead referral I think.

If anyone does know anything or has heard of it before... please feel free to reply

Dd1 had this happen with ceclor antibiotics, her hands, feet, knees and elbows all swelled up. If they don't think it's an allergy no idea, hope you get answers!

    poor little thing

my hands do something similar. If I ever get the flu - the proper flu where I am in bed for a week - about a week later for 24 hrs my hands swell up and look like I am wearing skin coloured blown up gloves. The first time it happened I freaked but the Dr said it was an allergic reaction to the flu. So I took antihistamines and it calmed down right away. I hope it is something as simple as that for you and your DD
