Bathsheba suggested I post in here for some suggestions.
Since moving into our house three years ago, everything seems to go wrong. We built the house and it was one fight after another with the builder. They did stupid things, as builders do, like plastering the walls before any electrical work was done, etc.
Anyway, since moving in we've battled everything. Mail doesn't get delivered. Our council rates are an absolute joke - resulting in court summonses twice, and both times the council admitting it is their fault. Fighting with an electricity company, a big 4 bank, the list goes on and on. Each time we've won the battle, but it's taking a massive toll on DH and I as a couple.
To make everything worse, I m/c my first baby, DD was born with hip dysplacia and we went through the entire brace/surgery/plaster/brace merry-go-round for 11 months. The pup we bought when we moved in had 15 vet visits in her first year - she had a skin cancer on her leg, something wrong with her tail, eye irritations, the list just went on and on and the vet couldn't quite believe it. DH has lost two jobs this year and last year - once because of the GFC, and this one now because the company he works for is contracted to BP and they're cutting back on spending to allow for the oil spill blow out.
My house is L shaped. The cut out is the back left corner. The house is rectangular, with the third bedroom jutting out the back, making it L shaped. We've built an enclosed pergola there, with the two house walls framing one half, and our back and side fences framing the other. Outside we have a half wine barrel fish pond, a coonara heater, a hanging chair and some dragonfly metal work. The outside of our house is a earthy coloured brick, like the colour of wet clay. Inside walls are soft yellow with white cornices, ceiling and skirting boards.
I really don't know much about any of this, but if anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to give our house a more positive and lucky energy, I'm all ears. If plants are the suggestion, the backyard is pretty much full shade. The only light coming in comes through some tinted roof sheets.
Thanks to anyone who has gotten through all of this and thanks again to Bathsheba for suggesting I post here.
My first thought would be running water, it can be hard with restrictions though.
I must say though, you have lots of different elements, (water, metal etc) it sounds pretty good already. I'll get back to you with the name of a good shade loving plant, it's slipped my mind atm.
You can use Feng shui Lucky Bamboo as an indoor plant. It is available at most florists. It may be a start.
There is shop in Melbourne's CBD call The Spellbox, they sell alot of spells, household items, tailsmans (sp?). It's in the Royal Arcade. They may have something you can burn or place in certain area's of your house.
They may also be able to give advice on how to get the good karma back in your house.
Get your hands on and read Denise Linn's Sacred Space book (she has another called Feng Shui for the Soul but i think Sacred Space is the one you need) OR Karen Kingston's Creating Sacred Space with Feng Shui. Both books will instruct you on aspects of house clearing and more importantly charging with positive intent, along with feng shui things like object placement etc. Hard to make suggestions without seeing your place, but some typical things include hanging pictures that show images of you all looking happy, or images that suggest abundance and ease. Keeping a healthy happy plant inside your entrance or in your main living area could help. Also, think about the flow of energy through your house from the front door...is anything blocking it? Or is your front door in a direct line with your back door (if it is, you need to hang some chimes in between the two to stop the energy rushing straight out the back). Reading the books is helpful because it gives you a chance to think about what you want to create in positive terms, rather than focussing on the run of bad luck you have...sometimes that shift from negative to looking forward to the good that's coming your way can help in itself, kwim?
and I hope this is the beginning of a run of good luck, created by your conscious intent .
This is not necessarily a karmic issue but one of Feng Shui - which has many many elements. Placement on the land, in the street, the direction, the number of door ways, the year of building and the material corresponding to that year etc etc etc.
There are many schools of thought on feng shui. Some I believe are adopted pop feng shui which many masters find disrespectful to the art.
It's important to align yourself with a true feng shui method. Having a Master come and do a consultation is to me more beneficial than anything. A bit like your car breaking down. Reading about it will help but to truly fix it you need a professional. The same works (I believe) for the art of Feng Shui.
Our school consulted a Feng Shui Master with great affect. A friend recently did so also - her area of trouble was in the health sector. This has improved 10 fold since the improvements were implemented.
Lulu - If the elements I have sound pretty good, then I'd hate to think where we'd be if we didn't have them!!!!! AARRGGHH!!! Actually, since we put the pond outside only a couple of months ago, a few things have sorted out, so maybe I fluked something there! Thanks for your advice.
Heather72 - I know the Royal Arcade well, I worked in Elizabeth Street for years, so I'll certainly pay the spell shop a visit. Thanks for the tip and for the plant too. I'll see if I can get my hands on one at the nursery.
Marydean - Our front door positioning is at opposite ends with the back sliding doors, but not in direct line, IYKWIM? If you walk in a straight line from front door to back, you'll crash into our buffet and then walk into the wall beside the back door. I knew this tip - my mum's house was frowned upon once because her staircase led straight to her front door. But that's about all I know about Feng Shui! I'll have a hunt for the books though, thanks.
Inanna - I'd love to get someone to have a look, but I doubt DH would go for it (MEN!!!). Even so, our finances right now just won't allow for anything, with no extra income. But I will keep it in mind and down the track I might be able to sneak someone in! Thanks for the suggestion.
One big positive today was that DH's phone started ringing - with three old customers who want him to do some big jobs for him. So maybe, just maybe, this is a start of some good luck! His business might just get off the ground and we won't need other employment! WHOOP!
Thank you so much. I don't know what I'd do without you all on BB.

The other thing I just thought of Corelly is to do a cleansing of the house. Buy a smudge stick from a New Age shop, light it and start clearing the energy in the rooms of your house. If you also feel inclined, use a white light meditation (I usually use it in the form of a cyclone) to clear as well. Hopefully that will also help.
I totally agree with Inanna on all points, and if you can eventually get in a Master it would be WELL worth it.
I also don't think it's really a karmic issue - and I remembered that shade loving plant - Clivia! They give you lovely bright orange flowers too.
Nothing like a cuddle from DD after a hard day's work!

With regards to the money thing. Is your front door directly facing your back door or a toilet? If so, put something to block them and make sure the front door is not facing any holes (ie back door or toilet)
This generally means money coming in will be directly going out.
