Question Little girl's first hair cut questions

Hoping you can help me out with some hair questions. I figured I have to do something about DD's hair. Its always in her eyes and is getting all wispy and seeming she wont wear clips, it needs to be tidied up!

I am going to take her tomorrow. Wont get a cut as such but more of a tidy up and a fringe.

Firstly, someone told me that if you take your kids to Just Cuts, they get their first haircut free. Does anyone know if that is true? I would do it myself but dont want to stuff it up or cut an ear off! Also if its not free, how much should I expect to pay?

Also how do you get your child to stay still for their haircut? DD is almost 16mths.

    TIA

Little girl's first hair cut questions

They will prob have her sit on your lap. My local hairdresser charges about $8 but the walk in one (not just cuts) charges $25!

We took DD. She was great. The hairdresser was fantastic. Talked to Miss J about what was happening, had a kids cape with mickey mouse. She even showed Miss J on a hair scuplture head what she was going to do.

Make sure you keep a curl!! I wouldn't think you should have to pay much.... I know there is a hairdresser here that keeps a lock of hair and puts it in a frame with a certificate if it's their first haircut..or that's what I've been told anyway, sounds a bit too good to be true for me! Lol.

She might surprise you and be really still, if she can see herself in the mirror it may keep her entertained for long enough to have her hair cut? DD's hair is quite long and always getting in her eyes, I don't want to take her to the hairdresser just yet though! I bought some clips which arrived today, so hopefully she will keep them in.

I called around for ds first haircut. Most that I called only did a free hair cut if they were under 1, but somehow where we went (Stefans, I think) they were nice and let us have a free first hair cut. DS was 3days off being 2.

we went to Just Cuts for DD1 only a couple of months ago, she has quite long thick her for her age but is happy to leave it in a ponytail.
It is normally $15 and when i had asked about her first haircut that is what they told me until i specifically mentioned i thought their first was free under 2yrs old.

They asked if i wanted a fringe cut but i said no as her hair grows so quickly it will just be in her eyes in a week anyway...

They were AWESOME with her, they bought out a little portable DVD player to keep her occupied, talked to her and told her what they were doing, she didn't move, didn't cry or anything i was so so proud of her.. i even got a photo on my phone

GL with it all, i'm sure she will be fine.

We've been getting our little monster's fringe trimmed about once every 2 months since she was well under a year old - she's got so much hair I expect several other babies are bald because of her

Anyway, her first umpteen trims pretty much needed dad to hold her VERY securely over his shoulder and the hairdressers get the odd snip in between screaming and squirming. I'm impressed they manage to get her fringe straight under those conditions.

Last two trims she's suddenly decided to just sit still and be good to the degree the hairdresser has even been able to brush her hair - this is some kind of miracle, *we* aren't allowed to brush her hair!

Other child has always been exceptionally good at hairdressers and just sits there nicely talking their ears off. Still does, but complains about her hairstyle a lot more now. She has what Ruby Rose had a while back - long dark hair, heavy fringe. You need to argue with her to tell her she looks pretty. Bah, tweenagers.

Both my girls love the hairdresser. For their first haircut, we took them to Just Cuts as it was free. I've never had them sit on my lap, they also sit on their own chair. Now DD1 is always asking to go to the hairdresser. She doesn't have much hair as it is, longest it's ever grown is to her ears, but we also get it trimmed.

I took DS2 to Just Cuts once and they had a portable DVD player for him to watch, but he is pretty good at sitting still anyway. We just talked to them lots and got them to look in the mirror and that seemed to hold their attention long enough to get it done.

    Thanks everyone!

Well we got it done. Didnt go to Just Cuts as I found the lady quite rude when I enquired and she was going to charge me $15 (even though it was her first haircut)!

I asked around a few of the salons and it ranged from $15 up to $29!!!!! I got it done for $15 at a gorgeous salon with lots of pretty things in ti that DD liked and the girls were lovely. She was all good and distracted by herself in the mirror for a while and then as soon as the scissors came out she lost it, but they did a pretty good job and there were 2 girls helping me to try and make her happy.

I will try and post a link to my Facebook. Will turn my privacy off so that hopefully people can access it.

oh buggar. I just took DS for his first haircut to Just Cuts and they charged me $16!!
And they knew it was his first because they gave me an envelope of his hair that had baby's first haircut on it.....
He just sat on the booster seat...dummy and distracting big sister were handy though.
