Having had a good heart to heart with J man tonight about lots of things Ive decided Im going to organise some sort of gym membership for myself. I need to be able to go to a place and just down load all the negetivity and exercise always makes me feel better.

Id love to hear from those quiet obviously have been to either Curves or Fernwood gyms...what they liked/hated about them.

Please note..I am not and will not be taking any of my children with me what so ever so childcare is no biggy

    TIA xxmaz

I joined Curves at the start of the year and for about 4 and a half months I went every day and really enjoyed it, however now I am bored of it. It is exactly the same everytime, the only difference is occasionally you do the circuit in a different direction. At least with the gym you can do an exercise class, swim, exercise machines or weights. I would definately be joining a proper gym when this membership expires...Dont get me wrong though, I did loose over 40cms and 13 kilos in the time I went to curves and the support was fantastic

Do you live near a YMCA? i am a member of one, and it includes gym, all classes, and pool so good for mixing it up a bit.

    Curves all the way!!!

30min work out and it works!!!
    Resonable price
Easy to get out of contract giving them a months written notice
Someone there to monitor and help you all the time
Exercises you can make easier or harder.. depends on how fast you move the equipment with resistance
You will see results.. its brilliant i lost 30kg in 4 months there... even not changing your diet works.. i did..
YOu can try the gym out (i think that is the current promotion) for a week free??

    Good luck! Hope that helps!

No, you can't just go in and use the bike or treadmill. You go in and do the 30 minute session.

I have been to both curves and fernwood.... i found that curves got very boring.... they have no work out classes... no bikes/treadmills anything like that.... so i went to fernwood which have classes and bikes tredmills etc.... fernwood is fantastic.... tho it is pretty $$$$$ .... the classes there are fantastic... and im not sure if it is all fernwoods but here they have child minding which is great also...

Curves is out for me . I cant do sessions due to my heath problem ......and id prefer somewere with a pool for afterwards.

Ive been looking all morning and my local gym offers everything (including pool) for the same price per month as fernwood charges fortnightly

Ive booked in for next week when I get back from Melbourne

Yep I think Curves is pretty limited and you can do the whole Curves circuit in the normal gym too...plus classes etc. I'd check out other places Maz...Fernwood is very exxy. Also i'm assuming you want a womens only gym but most gyms have a womens only area

I rang curves a few days ago after waiting a WEEK for them to get back to me .... they only do circuit work, no exercise bikes, no treadmill's...pfft what's the point of joing a gym if they dont have that? I cant do half the things in the circuit work due to my condition so defently out for me. Plus I want to be able to go to a gym and do my own thing and not feel pushed. Girl on the phone was very much away with the fairies, I had to keep pumping her for info..not good

Im very keen on the one in town, just have to catch up with Minnie and work something out time wise with her. Its a hell of alot cheaper, $600 for a years membership with full use of the gym, classes (palaties included), PT for a few sessions, wet area....yep sounds like a winner for me. the guy on the phone was extremely helpful, understanding and welcoming. First impressions were fantastic.

I can start of slowly on the bikes or tread mill and once my butt is better I can get into the more bending sdtretching exercises without worrying about doing any damage to the area KWIM

Thanks for all your input everyone
