Label G low income tax offset- anyone know how it is applied?

Just doing our taxes and looking at our previous years notice of assessment there is a $1200 low income tax offset there. From memory the estimate I got from etax was alot lower than the actual amount we recieved back ie didn't include this $1200 offset.
So I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me if the offset is applied once the tax return is submitted? The estimate I am getting is way under what we got last year but if that offest was applied they would be very similar so I'm wondering if this is whats wrong?

It should estimate the low income tax offset in etax. I just did mine and it says that it is $1350. When I click on Tax Estimate, right down the bottom of that page it says Tax offsets used (tax offset available 1,350) and you can click on it for more details. HTH

thanks fuzzy that does help, will have a look now.
So if DF worked more this year than last and therefore got taxed more, we have claimed more- shouldn't we get more back?? He is still under the low income threshold of $37,000 so I'm confused why the estimate is showing almost $800 less than last year???

Without knowing the exact numbers of your DF's tax for this year and last year it is hard to know.

The ATO also has a calculator to work out what the low income offset will be Low income tax offset calculator

Maybe that link will be more helpful to you

Did you work it out Ella? I'm studying in this field at the moment so if you need any further help let me know. It is hard to answer your questions without the figures though

I sort of worked it out. Ended up thinking that of course because DF has worked more he will have to pay a bit more tax. Still didn't get the return estimate I would like but I submitted them anyway. Any return is a good return hey!
