Icky sticky green plant thingies on trackies... help!

Up here in sunny QLD, we have these little weeds that grow in lawns and produce small, soft sticky green seed pods that stick to clothes really, really well.

DD went out on the lawn and returned with the bottom 10 cm of her new black Hannah Montanna tracksuit pants completely green. I thought I'd leave them a week till the stickies died and then brush them off. But I tried to remove them today, and they're just as green and sticky. Must be alien life forms coming to subvert the empire stealthily.

Anyway, does anyone have any good ideas to remove the sticky little suckers before I resort to the good old fashioned way and pick them off by hand one by one? (Which, I estimate, will take me until June 2011).

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I soaked DH's jeans from yesterday's mowing the weeds (they've taken over the lawn) this morning in nappy soaker and they rinsed off after about half an hour. HTH
