    12 week ultrasound

    hi all
We are having our 12 week u/s tomorrow morning, and i wasn't told if i had to have full bladder or not? can anyone help me out? I didn't have a 12 week scan with DS as i had a scan at 5 and 7 weeks as i had a scare with bleeding so this is new to us.

    Thanks in advance
    Kimmy

It's easier and I think you get better pics if you've got a full bladder, but not a super full one otherwise you'll just be uncomfortable and might be asked to do the dreaded only a little bit of pee bathroom trip!

I was told to just get a water bottle and sip water until I feel just full - but not busting. That's all they need.

Good luck for your ultrasound ... enjoy seeing your baby on the screen

hmm this time i was told it wasnt necessary? i thought it was weird so had a glass of water just as we left the house and the scan went off without a hitch...so i reckon if in doubt, drink! you can always do a wee there if they need you to!

hope it all went well today xx

300-500ml of water or clear liquid int he hour leading up to the scan is sufficient.'

For internal scans ie for cervix lengths etc, the bladder needs to be emptied.
    HTH's and goodluck tomorrow

thanks everyone for your replies had the scan this morning and it was great, bub moving heaps and heart beat very strong! I drank about 400mls of water on the way and was busting when i got there as i had a cup of tea with brekky as well and they told me i didn't need a full bladder so i was stressed about nothing!

Thanks again i am one very happy mumma at the moment after seeing my little one for the first time am on cloud 9, have a great day everyone
