    I wish I was seeing things...YIKES!

So I've been waiting for our electricity bill from last quarter, logged into their online system tonight and they've finally updated it.... and it is over $900
It was over $1000 but we had a bit of credit left from an overpayment on our last bill...but oh wow I am in shock! I was expecting it to be big, but not quite that big...DF has a bit of a "meh" attitude to electricity usage so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. And since I've been a SAHM the tv has been on a lot more than it used to. We have energy saver globes in all the lights though and although we have ducted heating/cooling it hasn't been used all that much because we have a wood fire. It's mostly on at night, but think I might start turning it off, even though DF says it uses more turning it on and off all the time...but if it isn't on then it isn't using anything which is my opinion!

Oh dear...I better go and tell him the news

it makes me feel sick looking at a bill like that! I had a look at their charting and our usage has almost doubled...we are in a bigger house but we only have us and Hayley. I know they keep jacking prices up, but our bills seem to be growing exponentially. Candles and kero lamps anyone?!

Tinks- our last bill was a bit over $600, but I don't think we had the ducted running at all because the house stays really cool in summer without air conditioning (that was for Feb-April)

Ours have been over $600 a quater lately. Not looking forward to the next one, since we've been using a heater & fire.
But we have our hot water heating twice a day, so I know exactly where ours is going.

Ouch!! Hopefully it makes your DH think a little more about the power he uses

We jsut need some clear sunny skies as we jsut aren't generating as much power atm as we need to and we have a big solar system

erck...is that with Country Energy? Ours has gone up exponentially despite cutting back...they were the biggest price increasers in the energy market - yay us!

We had a $1000 electricity bill earlier this year and had to ring and grovel for an extension to pay it, since we had about $4000 of other bills due the same month (funny how it works out that way) and that is pretty much our entire income gone on bills before food and mortgage Ours was two quarters worth though - we had an estimated bill the quarter before for $32 when it really should have been $350 or so. I rang up and put off so many bills that month it took us into June to get back on an even keel, just in time for me to stop working AND Centerlink to stop paying me. But at least absolutely everything is paid off now.

We have our reverse cycle aircon on ALL day at the moment, plus two column heaters on 24/7, plus a fan heater when it is too cold outside for the aircon to work (it cuts out when it is below 5 outside). I'm expecting this bill to be $600-700 but the way they put prices up it could be even higher But its that or have the house never get above about 8 degrees with a newborn in the house.

That happened to friends of ours, although the electricity company did an estimate not a reading then after they sent the bill went bust so another company bought out that electricity company and is now chasing that amount even tho it is incorrect!

DF was a bit shocked, but then he was like meh..it's just money...i doubt it will have any effect on him! I just think why give all that money to country energy when we could be spending it on stuff for us, or put it away as savings!
