Hi ladies,
Not sure if this is in the right place.
Over the past 3 weeks, DD- 6 months- has been having a poo explosion about once every second day.
Poo all the way up her back, its gross!
She isn't unhappy about it....
I have tried different brands of nappies, but nothing seems to help.
She is eating pureed fruit and vegies.
I thought she was having a reaction to apples, so stopped giving her those, but it didn't stop the explosion.
Can anyone give me any advice on why this might be happening?
Sorry, no idea about why it's such a big explosion and I can't remember DS1 having that sort of reaction back then to it, but he only started solids slowly close to 7 months. All I can say is that usually when my boys (yep, already happening with DS2...) have explosions that go all over, it's usually a sign I need to go up a nappy size even if the others still do up. Other than that, DS1 still has much bigger and runnier poos when he's had a lot of pumpkin. Strawberries also give us issues with nappy rash, but your little girl wouldn't be having them yet anyway I'm guessing. Her body is probably just getting used to the whole solids thing still - how long has she been trying solids?
could it be teeth? I think we've only had one "out of the nappy" explosion, with an Aldi nappy. even worse it was while we were travelling! yuck!
I think the terry cloth nappies do really well to hold in large poos. There is one brand of sposie with the 'poo pocket' I think it might be Baby Love? They had the number 3's ad where the baby does a number 3 in the car and it goes everywhere...not sure if they work as well as they say they do, but it's a hilarious ad!
Thanks ladies.
Have tried Baby Love and Huggies, explosion has happened in both.
The nappy size we are using at the moment, goes up to 15kgs.
No way she weighs that much.
She has been trying solids for about 3 weeks, so I'm guessing it does have soething to do with food.
Maybe I'm giving her to much?
I agree with trying a bigger nappy. We had exactly the same problem. DS didn't weigh as much as was recommended either and still seemed to have heaps of room but going up a size fixed it.
We had those for a while, then they stopped. We didn't really change what we were feeding her. It might just be how her body is coping with food at the moment. If she doesn't seem sick, maybe just wait it out.
