i think the ato sends something to them
I have now received my group certificate and have an appointment to have my tax assessment done with my accountant this weekend - but it occurred to me today that I don't know how centrelink get updated on my (and DPs) actual earnings for the past financial year for the tax benefit payment (or whatever it is called... I am really not good with the terms).
Once my accountant has done the assessment does something get sent to them electronically or do I need to call centrelink and update it?
i think the ato sends something to them
Tha ATO is linked to c'link via the computer system.
Cool - thanks guys! Can't half tell that this is my first year doing this!
When I rang yesterday to advice of lodgement the lady told me
Apparently the ATO sends them info, clink sees if you have a debt and take their cut if you do.
Then they send info back to the ATO so they can take money if you have a debt there.
Then it goes back to clink and your refund/supps are done.
did i talk to you yest miss cinders? tats exactly how i explain it!
are you receiving ftb already? all of this is dependent on you having your file active for ftb - if you dont have an active file you'll need to do a lump sum claim
not me then!
I am not currently recieving FTB, we put in our application but I over estimated our income so we did not qualify for payment and I checked the box for payment to be made at end of financial year... do I need to do the lump sum claim thing?
as long as you checked the box to be paid at the end of the year it SHOULD be on the system and automatically process. if you haven't heard anything from FAO 14 days after you have BOTH received your notice of assessment from ATO, contact to find out what is happening. it's chaotic trying to get through atm so any earlier may just find you sitting on the phone for hours to be told that it's active and just waiting on the delivery
