Question Mirena while BFing.. what do i need to know?

So girls i have decided upon advice i will go to my GP and ask for the Mirena IUD, we def do NOT want any more children and i am so over stressing every month it's not funny, i am fully BFing DD2 so i want to know it's safe for her!

So what do i need to know, the good, the bad, the ugly!

Just before DD1 i had an abnormal pap test, i was told not to worry it was nothing sinister and 1 in every 5 women have it, i was to have yearly pap tests from then BUT then i was PG then i bled for 13wks, then i was basically PG again.
I am going to request another pap test, should i wait for the results before getting the Mirena?

I was GBS + during my pregnancy with DD1, will this be an issue at all?

Also before DD1 i had unexplained bleeding while on the pill, i went off it for a year and now we have 2 girls...

Since DD2 i have had quite horrible cramping in the lead up to AF's visit, i never used to get period pain, if anything light cramps but now they start up to a week before and often continue right through?

Sorry for so many questions, i just want to pick the right thing so i can stop stressing about falling PG and get back to enjoying life

I had my mirena put in when DS was 4 months old. The actually procedure was nothing to worry about. I had it done in my OB office and didn't even notice he'd done it. I also didn't need any pain relief afterwards. I did have slight cramping for that afternoon. I bleed/spotted on and off for about 8 weeks. The first day or so were like the beginning of a period but then nothing heavy really just annoying and a panty liner was enough. DS never changed his b/f'ing at all (I was warned some may self wean). I haven't had AF since. I will occassionally get some pimples but that's it. I did have to go back in after a month or two as my wire had moved and it was poking DH whenever we DTD. Overall I am really really happy with it.

Not many GP's are trained to do it. When I had mine put in I had to have it done by a gyno. It cost $120 for the procedure and $30 for the Mirena. We have a Gyno who visits our Mediacl Centre once a fortnight.
I had mine inserted while still BFing and it didn't affect feeding at all. I felt no pain at all getting it put in, although some women do. Once it was in my AF was very, very light and sometimes no AF at all. It was the perfect contaception for me, up until about 18 months of having it in and I started to get cramping and continuous spotting/light bleeding so I had it removed. I was worried it had moved as they couldn't find the string, but it hadn't moved at all, the doctor had just cut the strings very short...he just needed an extra long tool to grab the string to remove it, LOL. I also had to have the Gyno remove it as none of the GP's Medical Centre could do it, there was no charge for removal.
It really is one of those "won't know till you try" contraceptions, and it's easy to get it removed of you have any problems.
