    5 Month Old's Routine please!!

My DD has just turned 5mths and started to fight going to sleep. She was having three sleeps a day (well more like catnaps of 30-50mins) at 9.30, 12.30 and 3.30. She was awake for approx 2 and a half hours. She never grizzled...just gave some tired signs and I had her asleep in 5 mins.

Well - new story!!! She is fighting sleep and when finally get her to sleep she is up again in 5mins!! This afternoon I have left her for nearly three hours and she is having a lovely time, laughing and giggling with her brother and not a tired sign in sight.

I think she is transitioning to two sleeps a day - what do you think? What is your routine like for a 5 month old??

My little one is 4 months and is lengthening the time in between naps too. I don't have set times in the day when she goes down for a nap, I just watch her (and keep half an eye on the clock) but each day is different and I just roll with what she wants to do. Some days she naps for 20 minutes, other days it can be 2.5 hours.

Yesterday she had good naps, today she's had 2 - she and I have had a fun day out and about and she's loved it.

I guess just go with what she wants to do, it has taken me a long time to get to this though, I used to get so stressed that she wasn't sleeping enough (or so I thought).

So our routine is that she gets up (any time between 6am-7.30am) we play etc, feed and then approximately 1.5-2.5 hours later we do it all again after her nap.

Maybe this is her way of letting you know that she doesn't need all those naps - some babies really don't!!

5 Month Old's have routines ??? Just kidding, they are going to regularly change their routine, just to keep you on your toes. Just follow her lead, its okay to go 3 hours, keep an eye on her, once you see her tired signs put her down. She may just do this for a few days and go back, or she may stay.

Both of mine have transitioned to mostly 2 naps between 5 and 6 months. Having said this it can change some days, and may be 3. Just try to keep in mind how many hours she has had in the 24 hours, a longer night sleep may mean a shorter day. Growth spurts at 6 months can mean they either sleep a heap or are awake more than normal to. DD2 some days like to be awake from 2.30 till 7.30 but if she is occupied she is happy.
