On Monday I had lunch with my cousin and her family - cousin and hubby run an environmentally aware business with a shop front in Footscray I think, part of a larger enterprise called "Green Collect"... anyway they are very big on ethical awareness and while we were there, cousin's hubby had been to the supermarket for groceries.
When he returned, he was talking about how much longer the old supermarket shop takes when you try to shop ethically - but how much easier it has been since he installed an app on his iPhone to help out!
Its called "Shop Ethical!" and it contains a menu with all the categories of supermarket products, you choose your category and then you can choose a sub-category and then the different brands are shown. Each brand then has a flag showing whether they have a positive or negative rating (for how ethically aware they are) or if they have any boycotts. There's also info about the company/brand.
Its not free, but it seems to be really useful if you are wanting to shop more ethically, using companies that are making a positive impact and avoiding those that are boycotted.
