Clothing Detergent and sensitve skin
DS has eczema. Currently we've been using Baby SA8 (Amway baby detergent) for his clothes and nappies (and ours as we ran out of our detergent & I can't see why we can't use his detergent). DS gets eczema everywhere except in his nappy area and on his scalp (where he still gets cradle cap). I use only a tiny fraction more detergent for his clothes washing than I do for his MCNs.
We have a specialist appointment for DS booked in September for skin tests to see if it's an allergy triggered eczema or not.
In the meantime, has anyone got any suggestions for a low irritant/allergy clothes detergent? So I can try one to see if that changes things as DS has had this since last October (born July) and it's just getting annoying to DS (starting to scratch everywhere) and me & DH as his skin is always red.

We use the MooGoo oatmeal bath wash, steriod creams the GP proscribed (with MooGoo eczema balm on weekends to break from the steriods). We did try the QV bathwash and creams as well (still use the moisturising cream with the steriod creams as well) but most did nothing.

Leckert have you tried just bicarb on his clothes and nappies?

I've no idea how much bicarb to try with. The strange thing is he doesn't get it where his nappy is even though it's the same detergent. The washing machine also does a deep rinse as well.
Can I suggest you look at the option of not using any detergent at all and try something like soapnuts or a wash ball to clean your clothes. They are just as effective as detergents in removing grime from clothes and leave absolutely no residue on the clothes. They are also environmentally friendly and very cost effective.
You don't mention if you use a clothes conditioner or not. Also what fabric are the MCN's made from (especially the part that is in contact with his skin)?
I also second the use of Moo Goo. It is the best cream I have come across for eczema and dermatitis. You may (only some carry it) find it in your local health shop or you can get it online. They are an Australian company. Try and stay away from anything with chemicals in it as they tend to irritate the skin.
Oh I forgot to mention that it might also be worth looking at his diet and maybe adding a probiotic like Inner Health Immune Booster for Kids (you will find it at a health shop in the fridge). I have come across great results with making these changes also.

No fabric softener, only thing I put in is the detergent and then tiny amounts. I forget exactly what the fabric the MCNs are (Itti Bittis) but they don't seem to have a problem with the detergent.

doesn't sound like it's a detergent problem but I used to just was the kids stuff in 2tbs of bicarb. Works just fine.
Poor little guy. HOpe you find a solution - from personal experience I know how frustrating it is. I know mine gets worse when I have too many tree nuts or too much unrefined suger.

I just want to know if there's a trigger or not and then I can deal with it either way.... so looking forward to the specialist appointment in that way - if there's no trigger I can deal with that, if there is a trigger, I can eliminate (as much as possible) that as well.
