    Ears

    Hi

for a few weeks now my daughter (9 months old) has been poking inside her left ear. I have had her checked over by 2 different doctors and they both had said everything is ok, but there is a fair bit of wax inside. The 1st doctor gave us Cerumol drops. We tried these twice but the smell is so strong! I don't like using them as it says do not inhale, avoid contact with eyes and skin. But once we put the drops in dd will then put her finger in her ear, and it goes all over it. We have put the drops in when breastfeeding too but she still does it, and even half an hour later.

After seeing the first doctor, a week later dd got a cold. I noticed she was putting her finger in ear again so I wanted to check this time it definately wasnt an infection. 2nd doctor said same about the wax and said we could try putting cooking oil in dd ear. Has anyone tried this? How did you go? Did it work for you? I am a bit apprehensive to put cooking oil in her ear, but its got to be better than the chemical drops

Has anyone had a similar problem with their baby's ears? It does seem to really annoy dd, as she is now often putting finger in and out of the same ear.

My DS2 had recurring ear infections and alot of wax would also accumulate in his ear. I didn't put anything in.. I have heard olive oil can work.
In the end I got a referral for an E and T and he had some special little tool and scooped the wax out..it literally fell out of his ear with the tool he used.
If there is alot of wax inside..they would not be able to see the ear drum to check for an infection or glue ear. This is what prompted me in the end to go the E & T.
