IT doesn't sound fair - is it legal?
just a bit of a vent really..
so we are about to sign the contract for exchange tomorrow only to find out today the vendor wants the settlement date pushed back to 29th October
I understand why she wants to do it (she is an elderly lady and her place that she is moving into won't be ready until then), but its just really annoying to find this out now...
we need to do some renovations to the place we are buying before we move in, so now its going to take even longer before we can even start that
ok vent over thanks

Oh that sucks!! We had something similar happen to us, vendor suddenly decided she didn't want to sign anything until the new financial year (as advised by her solicitor??) we initially decided to wait then found a better place and bought that instead hehe! Hopefully you can use the extra time to plan your renos![]()
Yes Unfortunately it is legal, as we haven't signed the contracts yet. We had a chat and decided we have no other option than to waitwe really want this house... One positive about the long settlement though we realised today is that we will have a chance to inject another $6000 into our savings between now and october, because we won't be paying the loan until settlement is done
ahhh very frustrating though, we were already to go, getting very excited and now this![]()
