whooping cough?

Ok so my IL's did a great thing and got their boosters today, we then spent the evening with them, i didnt realise that they were getting their shots today.......

......now i know its a live vac, so is it harmful to me while i am pg? i know i will get the booster while in hospital after bubs is born, but can i expose myself to it from their vac booster?

Stupid question, but i have no idea?

DH had it done the other week and the Dr never said anything to him :/ And our GP is really good and would have said something otherwise

No all should be fine as they actually encourage grandparents and dads to be immunised before baby born.

I don't know of hospitals giving immunisations in hospital thought, GP or council do them.

Thanks, i know my OB said DH could get it done after bubs is here, and the GP told me my IL's could come in any time (we see the same GP and they asked me to ask him when was best) BUt my worry was being with them on the day they got it as i think its a live vac, but im greatful that your GP was also confident, knowing that you are even closer than i am physically with my IL's IYKWIM! haha

Thanks also Feeb, my hospital offers it to me but not DH after bubs is here. DH will have to go to the GP as he is not admitted as a paient to the hospital!

p.s get your DH to have it now cause mine winged about how sore it was for 2 days and had a lump last thing you want is a winging DH after the birth of your little miracle!

We have heaps of whooping cough around atm both at Riley's preschool and our school so you are prob in more danger at the shops than from your ILs! Then again maybe Vic doesn't.

Whooping coughing is not a live vac so you should be fine. The only live (but seriously weskened vacs) they give now, are the MMR and chickenpox

^ Yep- whooping cough is not a live vax. Though I will add that along with MMR & chicken pox, rotavirus is also a live vax.

I had whooping cough while i was pregnant it doesnt effect bub while you are pregnant it is only a problem if you have whooping cough when bub is born i was told that me catching it while pregnant would give the baby a good imunity as long as i wasnt contageous when bub was born it is also called the 100 day cough (thats how long it last) i had plenty of time before bub was due for me to get over it you could always have your imunity checked to put your mind at ease.
