I've been contemplating a tattoo for the past 12 months, and have a good idea of the design and placement, but am worried about it stretching...
Planning to get it on the back of my right hip, and am wondering if anyone has been pregnant after getting one there, and whether it has stretched or distorted?
Any advice/opinions would be really welcome
Back of the hip should be fine. I've got a few tats now none of them have ever stretched. I'd say unless your getting your boob done or your stomach, your pretty much right. It takes a LOT of stretching to stuff up a tattoo If your still concerned talk to the tattoist about it, but I am sure they'll say the same thing. Good luck!
I'd say it would depend on your body size and the size of your babies.
My first was a large-ish baby and I had stretch marks all over my hips, stomach and around to my back. He seriously stretched me like nothing else. I have had 3 full term babies since him and not had one more stretchmark! lol
If I were to have had a tattoo where you're described it would be a horrid mess today. I have a friend who also has a badly over stretched tattoo in the same area.
I agree with Kirsty-Lee that it is best for you to ask the tattooist what they think.
I have one between my breasts and whilst it didn't stretch as such it did kind of distort a little when my breasts were at their largest. The thing I'm more annoyed about than stretching is the fact that it's gone blurry. I've had it for nearly 20 years now and I guess i should have expected it but all the detail has gone. It's just a celtic crucifix but it had a lots of filigree type lace work in the middle of the cross... originally... now it's just a blue blur. I guess it will keep getting worse as i get older and eventually just look like a plain blue cross. If I had known about the blurring i may have had a simpler design done instead.
