What can I take in carry on luggage?

So DH & I are flying to Townsville for the weekend on Friday. We'll only be there for two nights, so we figured we'd skip the baggage check in hassle and just take a backpack each. But now I'm worried about what I can and can't take!

We're flying Qantas so I've checked their dangerous goods page and know I have to take small amounts of deoderant, moisturiser etc, but what about things lke tweezers and hair straighteners? Surely they won't have a problem with those?

Oh and does stuff like make up count towards my 2kg/2L limit?

    TIA

Your aerosols will have to have a lid (some security get really uptight about this, others don't care)
    Hair straighteners definitely fine.
I've never taken tweezers - if I'm flying with carry-on only, it's usually a short enough trip that I can live without them.
Any liquid counts towards your limit, including makeup and moisturisers. But I've never had anyone check, although I don't think I've ever even come close to that limit. It would be a struggle to pack a 7kg backpack and have that much in there that's liquid.

    Have a good trip!

no don't think makeup counts at liquid....last time we flew Qantas they had a really strict 5kg limit though and all hand luggage was checked at checkin for the weight and contents. They won't let you take aerosols at all in the cabin - they have to be checked in. Not sure about the tweezers but if you're only going a couple of nights surely you could tweeze just before you go to save any issue?

ur carry on limit will be 7kg no matter what liquids u have....

u can take areosoles on board but they either need to have a lid or need to be locked ( some of the new ones have that little switch thing)

when i was working at the airport tweezers were a big no go, but the rules have been relaxed slightly since then, personally i wouldnt bother.....

in addition to ur 7kg back u can take a handbag as well, so u can put some extra stuff in there as long as its small enough to go under the seat in front of u....

    hope that helps

    Thanks everyone

I think I might just leave the tweezers home, and we don't have any aerosols to worry about at we got some roll-on deoderant. The only other thing I thought of was a razor for DH - might just get a disposable when we get there I reckon.
