Cross stitch programs

I'm hoping to make a wedding cross stitch for me and DH. But I'm doing it from scratch, there is a verse, and a few pictures. maybe a border...

I have the font I'm going to do the verse in, and have everything seperate (even the letters..which is the hard bit.)

so I want to know if anyone knows of a good program/software (pref free d/l cause that would be easiest, but doesnt have to be) that i can just draw/put it all together and would make it easier to make the pattern rather than my only alternative atm (which is hand drawing it on graph paper..)

I have the DMC cross stitch pattern designer CD-ROM and it's pretty good. You can import pictures and fonts into it and print out your patterns. I just had a google and you can download it from a place called filetube.

does it work on windows 7?

I think thats the one my mum had...but hers is an old version, and didn't work on my computer when i tried it..
