Im just wondering if anyone can tell me how feasible it is to think my dd can recognise my dh in a massive wedding photo we got framed last weekend? He is currently away for 5 weeks and I still want to talk to her about him and show her photos which I think she can recognise but obviously dont want to upset her by rubbing it in that he is not here as we both feel it anyways...
I have this framed pic in our bedroom resting on the floor and she goes up and talks to it but I wonder if she is making that connection...She says dada but is that because Im saying it?
Yep, she would be able to recognise him! My DD could, we showed her photos of family members all the time that she didn't see regularly and she would kiss them and say 'Nanna' or 'Poppa' etc.
When my DH used to go away for camps or was late home as he was doing night school we put a photo of him on the fridge and the girls loved it.
Even if he was not there they could always say goodnight.
They can recoginize people they see often in photos so keep talking to her about your DH. It also helps when he comes back home as he is then not a stranger.
That's how my nephew learned to say my name! I don't get to see them more than once or twice a month, but my sister shows him photos of all of us, and points us out and says our name in turn. Now all she has to do is point to someone, and he'll say the name - and then, last time I saw him, he took one look at me and said, 'Jody!' Now we just hafta work on the 'Aunty' part
I'd say she is recognising him, they are often smarter than we give them credit for! I recently got some pics printed out and stuck some on the fridge. There's a couple of our dog, one of the dog & DD and one of me & DD, she points to us all and oohs and ahhs over them and goes "oof oof" at the ones of the dog. She loves pointing to all the photos we have framed around the house.
My DS could pick me in a photo very early, so I reckon Daddy would be pretty easy for her.
My DH often had to hold him near a family photo if I went out so he could still 'see' me lol.
