Hello,
DS (nearly 14 months old) has been allergy tested, and is allergic to dairy, egg (but not when well cooked) and cashews. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of good recipe books or web sites with recipies for toddlers with allergies. I'm getting stuck beyond steamed/roasted vegies and meat (I feel like a 1950's housewife when I feed him - meat and 3 veg!).
Thanks
FG
You could start doing things like stir fry, bolognaise, indian curry, curry with coconut milk.... My girls are allergic to dairy, and I find if I just replace it with things like rice milk or coconut milk and butter with nuttlex, than we have a chance of survival...
i've got a great dairy free cupcake recipe for a treat we are waiting to see paed to get diagnosis and testing for luke but i dont want him to miss out on a bday cake its quite tasty doesn't make much though
100g rice flour 1 teaspoon wheat-free baking powder ½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 50g brown sugar 1 pear, grated 4 Tbls sunflower oil 2 Tbls golden syrup
Preparation method
1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees C. Sift together the flour with the bi-carb and baking powder. Add the sugar and the grated pear. Mix all together.
2. Add the oil and golden syrup and beat all the ingredients together.
3. Put into patty pans and bake in pre-heated oven for 25 minutes.
I find most things are fine, but read ingredients well
you can get "no egg" it replaces eggs in cakes, nuttelex for marg/butter and soy/flavoured soy and rice milk to replace rice milk. I just substitute these in cakes and things.
Things like chicken wings spice mixes are generally ok.
But be aware of whey protein And milk solids.
With the no egg you can do home made rissoles and burgers and meatballs, just use half the water.
