Tonight at dinner we were eating chicken patties, we put some sauce in this case Mayonaise on DD's to see if she would eat more. A short time later I noticed the RHS of her face had a big red rash, the the LHS had a rash but three spots of it.
She had eaten everything else on her plate before, ad we only clicked 1/2 an hour later that it could have been the Mayo. She has had Mayo before but it was from HJ's, so not sure what the ingredients are
She has complained that it is sore, but as it is on her face we can just let it air.
She has had egg before with no problem's but is it possible to be a bit allergic to raw egg but not cooked? I can't think of any other time she may have had raw egg (never licked the beaters when I have cooked or anything like that).
Hey hun, I would say yep definite possibility. J has just been diagnosed with an egg allergy, he reacts to raw egg with hives on his face similar to what you are describing and swollen eyes, but he can tolerate eggs cooked in things like cakes etc. Might be worth getting an allergy test to be sure, with J we are able to still give him things with small amounts of cooked egg, seems the old thinking of avoiding it all isn't followed any more and because he can tolerate it he can keep having it in small amounts. Good luck with it all. xox
Thanks Tan, she didn't get swollen eyes, so I would assume it is a more mild reaction than J.
Oorki ~ it was store bought, squeezy bottle, it has on the back "Allergen Information: Egg and Milk" but I don't know if that means the egg is raw or cooked...
I have just looked on the HJ's website and the list of ingredients for their Mayonnaise: Soybean Oil, Egg Yolks, Water, Distilled Vinegar, Corn Syrup, Salt, Sugar, Mustard Flour, Tocopherol.
It was the only "new" thing she has had and I don't really want to give it again, to test it.
The egg yolk will do it, tends to be a milder reaction than egg white, if you are worried it would be safer to get tested and find out it was just a fluke than that she has an allergy if you give egg again.
