Yesterday afternoon DS had a temp of 39.1 and tiny spots covering the whole of his body. From his forehead down to the tops of his feet. We was quite lethargic, gave him some panadol and rushed him to the Dr. They said it was just a virus and didn't think it was measles as there was no cough or runny nose. He was still happy and playing when he felt like it. I bought him some nurofen, came home had some dinner and off to bed he went. Woke up this morning with only a slight temp, still has the spots but is still happy and eating and drinking.
DD has molars coming through and had a temp yesterday of 38 and I thought it was related to that. I gave her some nurofen for her teeth and temp and she slept all night. Woke up at 6.15ish as normal for a bottle but she was screaming her lungs out, didn't want her bottle at all. She snuggled in bed with me for a while and continued to cry, she would settle for short periods. She didn't want DS touching her AT ALL and he was only trying to rub her, which she usually loves. Her temp would have been close to 40 this morning but the nurofen has bought it down. She is VERY irritable, won't eat or drink (and she LOVES food), she has happy periods followed by being completely miserable. I am not sure what to do?! Do we sit tight and wait it out or do you think she needs to be seen by a Dr?! She is having a rest in her cot now, which she needs. She is SO exhausted.
My Ds is the same at the moment. Temps of 38.5 and above since Monday, rash (dotty) since Wednesday on this body and spread to face today. I went to dr on Wed, just a virus, again this morning and as it's getting worse got antibiotics.
Thanks so much for the reply. Am just waiting for DD to wake up and will see how she is. Think I will take her to the Dr after lunch if she hasn't improved.
Hope your little man is better soon x
What a day! DD ended up sleeping most of the day and is still dosed up on Nurofen. As soon as she gets near the 6 hour mark her temp is soaring again
She slept for 5 hours this afternoon, got up for an hour and a half and is now back in bed Poor little possum, it has really taken it out of her. DS is grumpy and tired and still covered in spots. So frustrating that we are housebound and can't do anything this weekend for fear of passing it on to others.
DD has woken with a temp around 40 this morning. Have given nurofen again. Am I right in thinking that when they have a fever for 48 hours you need to see a Dr?! I am more than happy to take her but I know she will have the same thing as DS. She had maybe 50mls of a bottle about half an hour ago and now I am just trying to bring her temp down with a cool face washer and have dressed her down a bit. The only reason why I am wondering about taking her to the Drs is, is because yesterday when the Nurofen kicked in she was off running around and playing. Maybe I just wait and see what happens when it kicks in?!
Enchanted, I would be going to see Doc first thing today when they open or even a hospital if DD temp is still at 40. Especially since they are both sick, they may have the same thing, but spots have not appeared on DD yet. I would get second opinion anyway on DS. Do the spots look like an allergy?
Oh hugs to everyone with sick bubbas!! DD has been like this all week, she has a middle ear infection and molars coming through..... so I feel your pain, hope they are better soon....
We took DD to the Drs and were told to just keep doing what we're doing. She has slept most of the day and is finally eating and drinking a bit. So lethargic though and she is so pale and looks terrible Quite a few young kids around here have the same thing, not fun! Go away germs and bring on the sunshine!
DS had his temp and spots Thursday, still has spots today but had been fading. We went out today, get home and bath the kids. DS sits on the couch and becomes really hot really quickly. Within half an hour his temp had reached 39.1 after having no temp since Thursday arvo. He was quite flat today but we thought he was just tired.
Why has his temp gone up again after a couple of days without one?! (We haven't given him panadol or nurofen since Thursday night)
