Should I do a half marathon next weekend?

    I need some advice girls....

There's a half marathon on next weekend and I'm thinking about doing it. I've done a couple of 10km events but not for a couple of months now. A half marathon is 21km, so it would be double the longest I have run before. I've stayed active since my last 10km run & have done a couple of 6/7/8km runs since then, but I wouldn't say I'm in tip-top running form at the moment.

I'm also in the TWW to complicate matters.

I think I could do this, it would just be a matter of finding a good pace & keeping the legs moving. But should I do it?

    What do you think?

I don't know what TWW is, sorry!

Do you feel like you could do it? I'd say go for it - but use good sense and look after yourself too.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

If you think you are capable then go for it. Keeping in mind you are in the TWW, you could always stop/walk rather than push yourself that extra step iykwim. If you are UTD, you might struggle a little more than you think. When can you test?

JM - I only O'd yesterday so it would be 7dpo for the event & way too early to test.

I wouldnt' worry about being in the TWW. I guess pace yourself and see how you go?
    I don't really know because I'm not a runner.

I'd do it, particularly if you're feeling fit. Although, i do know that my fit and running fit are quite different. But i do find once you get past that first hurdle, and get your legs rolling over things get easier. HAving said that. i've only ever run 12kms!!! So i don't know what the next pain barrier feels like. But no one will be there with a cattle prod, (or will they?) so you could always pull out if it was too much.

Well, no turning back now! I've registered, got a babysitter & I'm all set to go! I'm starting to get a little bit excited....

Thanks for your advice & support Nettie, JM & Marcey, its always hard to know whether to pull back on the exercise or just keep going when TTC or pg. When I was pg with DD I stopped exercising completely & I don't want to make that mistake again.

    Awesome!
I cycled up Mt Coot-tha for the first time while in the TWW, and it was brilliant. I love that I can say I did it while pregnant

Good luck! I'm cheering for ya!

Yeah, i have done the same in the past. I get really bad m/s and have a couple of m/c so i tend to pull up a permanent seat on the couch. Going to try and approach the next one differently. (I'm in the TWW too. )

Best of luck with the half marathon, let us know how you go!

YAY!!! Sooo glad you've registered hun!

You've been active, and are continuing with that is the best thing, TWW or not. I also made the mistake of ceasing all exercise with DD and DS - this time around is MUCH different. You'll be awesome Winter!!!!

Will be shaking virtual pom poms from the side lines to push you all the way to the finish line !

Well I did it girls! 2:14:03 I'm rapt with my time, really enjoyed the course, got into the zone & found a good steady pace. Just got to wait a couple more days before I can test to see if I'm pregnant now!!

Thanks for your advice & support, I really appreciate it. One of the things that kept me going was knowing that I'd have to post my result & let you know how I went. So thank-you for being with me on the run & keeping my head strong. MWAH!!!
