I was hoping someone could help me please. I have breastfed my little boy who is now over 3 and as great as it was, I want to wean him because
I want some time off before my next baby is born (I've just found out I'm pregnant) and I don't want him to feel sidelined by making him wait for my newborn to feed before he does.
He goes to childcare 3 days per week and is happy not bfing when I'm not around, but when I am he is really quite insistent, and asks for it several times a day when we spend time together.
I've tried the 'never offer, never refuse' tactic, but it hasn't really worked so far. Can anyone offer me some advice on how to handle this? Or give their opinion on whether I should just persevere with it?
I weaned my boy when he was nearly 3 year by cutting his feeds short. Eventually he just gave up because he was only getting a few sucks and the shortened feeds meant there wasn't much there for him anyway.
My 3 year old son is still asking for a milk though I also started to cut it slowly. I engaged him to outdoor activities so his attention would not much on asking for milk & eventually look something to eat when he feels hungry.
