Hello, dd2 has always had a waxy left ear as noted by the drs each time they check her ears. For the past week she has had a wet cough but no temp. 2 nights ago she was awake most of the night crying and saying ouch, rubbing her ear and putting her hand in her mouth. I know shes got her last molar coming through I saw it! So now she wont let us near her mouth with a toothbrush, medicine, a face washer.... or my finger.
Anyway to the ear wax. As I said her left ear is usually waxy on an internal examination. The drs always comment about it. Her outer ear is not too bad in that it does have a little wax showing and a few days ago I cleaned it with a damp cloth. This mrning I was playing with her and I managed to look into her ear and noticed it was full of dark wax. More than I had ever seen before. I have managed to clean some of it with a face washer but shes reluctant to let me near it. I just went to make her bed and her pillow case has wax marks over it. What do you make of this? Do you think it warrents a visit to the drs? Still no temp and is playing well with her sister..... just has a persistant wet cough...actually they both do!
I think if your worried you should get it checked.
my DS has always had ear problems...he makes a huge amount of wax and it is quiet dark too but the doctor has said its fine and some people just make more wax than others.
My DS1 had lots of ear wax when he was little, when he was about 18mnths maybe 2yrs the doc flushed his ears to remove the wax. It never caused him any trouble, but once it was gone he must have been able to hear things more acutely than before as he jumped at noises that usually didn't phase him doc said things could have been muffled for him before.
DS3 is 9months old and when he's teething he rubs and pulls his ears, specially when he's tired.
You know your bub though, so if you're worried maybe get it checked out, better to check it out and there's no problem than to let it go and worry.
Thanks girls, I'll more than likely take her to the drs because of the cough and get it checked while I am there. It just suprised me that its come out so quickly and onto the pillow case too!
Cheers Melissa
