As most of you will know my 2 year old is fed all fluids via a naso-gastric tube, in the last few days we have finally got to the stage that she is taking enough nutrition through food (which has been a long road) so we now only have to put water down the tube so our next step is to get her drinking enough fluids to be able to remove the tube.
This is where you come into the picture, I am just curious how much your 2 year old drinks in one day being bottles/cup, milk/water just so I can see what may be normal (although I realise every child is different).
DD has been under the guidence of a dietican since birth so we do have an understanding on her requirements but I am curious about others really.

: Correcting my many mistakes.
Um ok, well Kelti still has milk 3 times a day, so thats about 200ml each time (we don't really measure it, just pour) and she'll have a few sippy cups of extremely watered down juice, plus some water in a cup when she wants it, then she'll have a drink with dinner....so its hard to say.. every day is different really....
DS1 BF anything from 1 - 6 times in a day for short few sucks to as long as i let him stay fot, and has a tupperware sippy cup i think 200ml, filled 2 - 4 times during day most days only has 2 in day.
I always am concerned about his fluid intake as never been a big drinker or wee'r. He does have 1 or 2 of the smaller yougurt tubs a day.
Wow! Not what I expected at all. I usually put between 800mls and 1lt down her tube each day and my dietican has advised not to put any more than 500mls and only increase if her wet nappies decrease or if her wee becomes concentrated. Today we have taken the tube out and offering many yummy tasting drinks in an attempt to get her drinking, so far she has had about 175mls (plus the 150mls of water I put down her tube upon waking before I pulled it out), to get 175mls into her in one day is a massive achievement for us, in the past we have been lucky to get 10-20mls, plus she has half a cup of milk in her weetbix etc (but I find it hard to count this as fluids... so I will chug along tomorrow and see how she goes.
yay to your little lady on her big effort!! And Congrats to you mummy on doing such a fine job!
In our house my kids don't drink nearly as much as every one elses seem to....they will have 200ml milk in a bottle each. About 75ml milk in cerial tho they don't always have this. A full 250ml sippee cup of 1/4juice 3/4water. And possibly (on a hot day or when they've been running around like crazies), another full 250ml cup water. They will usually only drink some of the plain water, not the whole 250mls. So all up it would be about 750mls if they have all of what I give them. But usually I would say not more than about 5/600ml. I think if I gave them more flavoured drinks (ie, juice or cordial) they would probably drink more, but I refuse to! They can have water if they want more after they finish their juice. Particularly when the hot weather comes. Also remember that kids get alot of liquid out of foods too though, especially fruits and veggies.
