    Question Contraception when your Single

I'm having a hard time deciding what I want to do about Contraception.

I really don't like the idea of controlling my body with Pills, IUD' etc but I don't want to get pregnant either.

I know the only safe option is Condoms and thats ok for the short-term, but I don't know what to do about the long-term.

Has anyone else found themselves in this dilemma?

I'm not on anything at the moment but seriously doing my research into Implanon.

Yeh I guess a Diaphram is an option.

I really need to do more research into them.

    Thanks Olive!

    What about a mirena ?
Or just use condoms until you meet someone long term and want to use another type of contraception, that way you aren't mucking around with your body for nothing if that makes sense?

Yeh I was thinking implanon too.

But I looked into it and the chances of break-through bleeding was quite high. I had the Mirena in after I had Colby and bled for 3 months straight! I don't want to go through that again!

I was thinking of just charting but thats so much effort having to take your temp etc.

I am having the same issue atm

I have the implanon in but I don't stop spotting, driving me mental.. have been prescribed tablets to stop it and as soon as i finish the script the spotting starts again.. and then lately I have been getting a painful grabbing sensation where the it is.. likes its lodged and free movement hurts it.

I have looked at the nuva ring.. but scared it would fall out, the IUD is not a option as i cant imagine having it put in... and the pill, well I fell pregnant on it.. leaving us with only the condom option (which I hate the thought of) when I get this thing taken out of my arm soon.

I have made a GP app with my Dr I love to talk to him about my options

Yeh the Mirena was good except for the bleeding at the beginning. I had it taken out because getting up to the 2 year mark I was getting lots of pain and cramping and break through bleeding so I had it taken out.

The other issue is, without making myself sound like a harlet, is that you are prone to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease if you have multiple sex partners with the Mirena in.

I defintely know what you mean about mucking around with my body. I don't want to be doing that. My cycle is still getting back to normal since the m/c. I'm just starting a 26 day cycle after a 36 day cycle last month! So I don't need to be adding anymore confusion!

Yes see the feedback that I get about the Implanon is never good. Thats why I was really hesitant about considering it.

I don't like the condom option either but it not only protects you from pregnancy, but from some infections and disease too.

I was supposed to go for a Pap yesterday but have AF now. I think I'll discuss it more at the next appointment.

    They do indeed

I've never really been keen on Condoms though.

Although I was in a relationship with XDP for 10 years so it was never really an issue. We just always did withdrawl method. The only issue with this was that you didn't get to enjoy the orgasm for as long! Hehehe!

Sara, just fyi, charting isn't much effort at all! Just set up an account, take your temp and put it in. I take mine at 7am, I have an alarm everyday, take my temp, go back to sleep. Then when I get up properly, I look at the thermometer and pop it into FF. Would be better if your cycles were more regular, unlike mine lol.

    Thanks hun.

I have charted before. I just dont think that it would fit in with my lifestyle at the moment. I've been living a bit of the single life of late so have been staying at Friends houses and drinking etc etc. So yeah I just dont think it would work that well when taking all that into account.

Ahh fair enough! I hate it if I have a drink the night before and then end up just discarding that next mornings temp because I won't trust it Hope you find something that fits for you
