Do you know this kids book? (Long Shot)

When I was a kid I had a few books I adored. I have managed to refind most of them on ebay but there is one that I cannot find as I cannot remember the name of it.

I THINK the author MAY be Stephen Cosgrove as I have a few of his books and the artwork is the same, but I'm not 100% sure.

So this was a shortish book with a few shorter stories in it that were intertwined. One of the stories was about an old lady who had a cow that she loved and took care of. She had a pair of blue slippers/shoes that were always on the hearth. When she died her cow was very sad but the lady left him the blue shoes that she was so fond of and the last page shows the cow smiling and wearing the slippers.

If anyone knows this book I would be very grateful for the name so I can try to refind it. My sister and I LOVED it.
