Conjunctivitis, Ear Infections, Cold and Blood test results...
We have a Dr appt this afternoon, one for each of the boys.
About 2 weeks ago they had a stool sample taken and blood tests to see why they are not doing formed poo. Going to get the results today, fingers crossed it's something minor and can be dealt with locally. If the tests come back fine we will be referred on to a gastroenterologist in Perth at PMH.
Another reason for the Dr visit is I am 99% sure Brendan has conjunctivitis, he has a yellow pussy like substance seeping from both eyes and both his eyes appear to be scratched/not as bright as usual. great...
I am also concerned that Tristan may have an ear infection and am going to get the Dr to check all their ears.
And finally going to check that Tristan "just has a cold" and nothing more sinister. His breathing is terrible and I have been close to giving ventolin a few times in the last week.
Please send some get-well soon vibes... am totally over Drs!
Hmm where to start...
Firstly the Dr was running an hour late so by the time we get in the kids are grumpy. So glad my mum came along.
Then he rushed through everything, didn't really want to write another referral but did because the speechie had written a letter to him. Then he closed off Brendan's file before I had finished with him. A quick script for AB's for eyes and ears given. Bloods came back all normal and fine.
Tristan didn't even get looked at, his blood results all came back fine and clear too.
So the Dr just wrote out another script for AB's for their bowels, WTF the results were all clear?!
Then on our way out he says to mention the bowels to the ENT (Umm did I miss something? Seriously thought ENT stood for Ear Nose and Throat )
So he basically gave up and pushed my concerns about the bowel movements aside.
GRR
Anyway Next week I'm going to try and get the boys into a natruopath and see what they say, the dietician and I believe it's food related (an intolerance or something) I am not giving more anti biotics when all the result came back clear.
Sending get well vibes to your boys - Hope they are both feeling better soon.
I can relate to your frustration about doctors not listening to your concerns, my daughter gets throat/sinus/chest infections every 2 weeks (for the last 12 months) but no one can tell me how to stop it - they just keep telling me she needs to gain more weight! Ummm how can she when she wont eat 1 out of 2 weeks because she feels like crap and the gastroenterologist (we are getting a PEG put in) still hasn't seen us months after 3 referals have been sent through!!.
Anyway, thats getting away from your boys, good luck with the allergy angle well worth investigating. keep persisting you know your boys best and if you think something is not right you are there best advocate to get some results.
How frustrating hun Naturopath sounds like a great idea, also if they get junky eyes again you can get the drops with no script now, just over counter. We have had endless bouts of it here. xoxxo
sally {sarah}'s DS had some isses a few years back regarding runny poos. maybe pm her about it, i cant remember what the cause was
definatly see a natruopath, DD was protein intolerance tested and can back positive
