We have a christening to go to in a couple of weeks for a 3 month old boy and I have no idea what kind of present we should get. So thought some of you lovely ladies will be able to help me out
There are the usual christening gifts that I can think of - anything in the bunnykins range (cup, plate, bowl, cutlery), a silver piggybank, Myer/David Jones usually have a display cabinet with baby/christening gifts. A nice photo frame, anything that you can get the little boys name printed up on - Identity Direct (online) do alot of things that can be personalied. A teddy with the boys name on....these are all pretty stock-standard, some of the other lovely BB'ers might be able to come up with something a bit unusual. xxx
I gave a friend DS recently a wooden Noah's arc and some Elmo bookends, as I asked her if she wanted royal dalton and bunnykins things and she said no.
I love wooden toys and have given these as gifts for both birthdays and christenings etc.
You can get some gorgeous things that look like 'keepsakes' but are quiet practical, wooden cars, trucks, trains, boats etc.
We recently got a little man a personalised snow dome. It has all his 'details' on one side and a photo of him on the other. DD had her naming ceremony on the weekend and some of the keepsakes she receieved were a first tooth holder, her name scrapbooked in a frame, name plaque for the door, photoframe, certificate cylinder.....
You can do jewelery, engraved.
A cross for the wall
certificate holder engraved with the date.
Clothes
frames
money for savings account.
That's just a few things ds2 got for his baptism
ooh a blessed set of rosary beads is always nice. From religious shops.
A kids bible.
Depends if you want to go religious or not.
I got some personalised cot sheets done. Mum used to have embroidery business so she did them but that all feel apart and she doesnt have it anymore.
I always find this one hard.
A christening candle if they dont already have a family candle that they are using? You might need to ask them so that you can give it to them before the day if they would like that.
Not sure if this is what you're after, but DF and I went to a close friends babys christening at the beginning of the year, we bought them a professional photographer for the day who did some beautiful shots for them and put them in a nice album.
You could try a bookshop called Koorong as they have a good range of Christian books for kids. We got some really great ones for our son. DS is asleep in nursery so I can't post titles but will look later if you are interested.
I get a silver/pewter Noah's Ark money bank and get the name of the child and date of the christening engraved. Have done this for 3 friends kids now and always get great feedback.
