If I use pay pal (for an ebay item) and use my credit card does the money go into the seller's account immediately?

Yup, payment is instantaneous

Yep as Manahattan said, instantly. The seller receive notification instantly too saying you have paid.
The good thing about pay pal as refunds are easy too if you ever have the need for them, as it's straight back into your card via pay pal.

I tend to use bank deposit mainly so not too familiar with how PP works. The item is pickup and expensive so thought it best to pay pal and make use of buyer protection rather than COD just in case!
