DS is 9 months old and since he was probably abouut 3 months old his sleep has been horrible! During the day isnt so bad he will have a 45minute nap mid morning and then a long nap in the afternoon so i try and make sure im home for that one so he gets a good sleep.
Night times are another story! He goes to bed at 7ish we have the same routine every night leading up till bedtime so he knows what the go is, i generally feed him to sleep which i love and he goes off without much issue. Then we get to 10pm if we make it that far and he feeds every 3hrs! Now he feeds 4hrly during the day...i have tryed to get him to take more during the day....hes not interested in hopes that he will go overnight longer.
I dont mind waking up and feeding him but i think twice a night is more than enough! 3 times if i know hes teething and needs the extra cuddles....but lately its been 3+ wake ups a night and im so cranky and irritable. I have a DD whos pretty demanding and on the ball from the time she gets up until the time she goes to bed so theres just no time to rest unless i can get her to sit still long enough to watch a bit of TV.
I have tryed feeding him in bed in hopes he will just go back to sleep and sleep well, but nope he just thinks its play time in our bed so that had failed! It use to work! I have tryed wrapping him back up and putting him back in bed ....nope.....tryed resettling with rocking and patting.....nope!
What else can i try....i know i can just feed him and he generally goes back to sleep, but in the mean time i get maybe 4 hrs of broken sleep most times less a night and its doing my head in!
Our kids are the same age, we've been having a terrible time too!
I just bought an Amber teething necklace, but haven't seen any difference yet.
Cosleeping hasn't helped either, I think it's just a really bad stage, as lots of people seem to have sleep problems at this age.
It's so torturous when you just want to sleep and constantly get woken up, every morning I want to cry!
I hope things get better soon, for both of us!
DS has been the same since about 4months and is generally awake 3times a night for a feed. The way I see it atm is that as long as its a quick feed and he's straight back to sleep I don't mind. Although, it does mean I'm exhausted the next day.
Around 7months, DD stopped going back to sleep after a feed and would be awake for another 45mins, she also went from 1 wake up to 4 or 5. We had to change our bedtime routine, so the feed wasn't the last thing we did and she'd go in the cot awake. We then did the patting thing. Dh would then go and resettle her the same way during the night It took about a week for it to work, but it happened with no tears. She still didn't sleep thru the night, but it was back to one wake up.
