    5 month old and cold

    Hi,

Phoebe is 5 and a bit months old and has developed a nasty cold. She has had them before but this is by far the worst. Last night she had a shocker with nasty coughing and choking - she sounded like a funny sounding dog (sorry, only way I can think to describe).

We visited the DR today as I was worried about this cough and she checked her and her chest is clear and ears are ok. She says the cough is from stuff running down her throat. I have a humidifier which I will set up tonight but am wondering if I can use vicks to help clear her? (obviously a baby type) If so where do I put it? On her chest or her feet? She is just so blocked up and if the coughing and choking had gotten any worse last night I would have taken her to ED.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    oh poor lil bubba..

u can get the baby vicks but i put it on their singlet as sometimes it can giving a burning sensation as my son describes it lol...
i would keep an eye on her as a cough that sounds like a bark is often related to croup etc.. but if her chest and everything is clear then i would just keep a close eye on her..

Thanks - I will head out and get some when DH gets home. Don't want to take the girls out in the rain. I was worried about croup too - she sounds really awful. Woke DH up too and he never wakes when I feed her. She just threw up a heap of mucous so hopefully it makes her feel a little better.
