DD is 3 years 3 1/2 months old and still breastfeeding. I always planned to breasfeed her until she self weaned, but recently she is driving me insane. She was sick for 2 days last week and was on the boob almost constnantly, but now that she is better, she seems to still want it all the time. She is 3 for crying out loud! She doesn't need it the way a younger child would... While I don't mind giving her a feed at night or first thing in the morning, I really, really, really don't want to do any more than that anymore. Any tips on getting her off the boob??
I am planning on ringing the ABA Helpline today, but if anyone has any tips or experience I would love to hear it. DD is the biggest boobie monster ever, so I am thinking that this will be a challenge.
I recently cut DS down from 4 feeds to 1. I basically said that 'boo' is only for dawn and if he asks for it tell him he has to wait and try and distract him. He has mostly been ok, a whinge for a minute or two but fairly easily distracted. He was getting sick in the last week and so did feed a couple of times over night but now that he seems to be ok I will be cutting him back again.
i resently stoped feeding at 2 years 8 months for the same reasons i had simly had enough - i decided one day after she had been at care all day my boobs were simply Broken - this was a girl who if u let her would feed 6 maybe 10 times a day no joke . and i stuck to me guns and it took all my will but one month on she doesnt even ask for them - mums boobs are simply broken - to remind her i did get a couple of bandaids and put one on each side for about a week not over the nipple simply up a bit so u could just see the edges through a tshirt - it woked for us i had seriously had enough .
