Hamilton Island/great barrier reef in March.

We're thinking of going to the Great Barrier Reef in March next year. DH thought that I should check to make sure that it's not monsoon season before we get excited. So.... How is it in North QLD in March?

A cyclone hit Hammo in March this year. End of the wet & prime cyclone season - sorry! The upside is travel
may be cheaper then. Also I think we are in La Nina cycle so are expecting wetter summer than normal.
Tasmania's best weather can be in March though. I always planned bushwalking then as less lows off the southern ocean.

It'll be hot, it'll probably be wet and probably cheap too. Oh, and don't forget it's cyclone season still.
Doesn't sound too promising does it lol

We went to the Whitsunday's at the end of April one year and it was beautiful. Can you wait a month or two?

I think you should go for it.
Likelyhood a cyclone will hit 2 years in a row is pretty low, IMO.
Every year they come, but very rarely do they 'hit'.

The weather here is beautiful that time too. Very humid however... (a lot of people aren't prepared for how humid nth queensland actually is, totally different type of heat).

have fun planning! Make sure you go to White havan (sp) beach, ooo and also black island - great snorkelling, absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
