My DD2 has only sat a few times and only really started rolling properly everywhere and she is 9 months but her cousin is younger and he is nearly crawling.
I wouldnt stress about your DS...they all have their own time line![]()
Hi ladies,
So I have an almost 7 month old DS. He still has not rolled fully by himself or sat up or anything in between. I would love to hear from others (please let there be others!!) with late starters. He has no teeth coming through either.
He is a good night time sleeper.....
Any stories of encouragement would be great
Beata

I'm sure he will do it when he is ready! Is he doing other things? Like babbling etc? Is he trying to roll? If you're worried have a chat to your MCHN/GP. DD didn't get her first tooth until about 10 months so I definitely wouldn't be worried about that.![]()
Party-of-five, thanks hun! I do feel a bit better now
ss-storm, he does babble a lot, says mum a lot, holds onto/eats his toes and then topples himself over to one side but then quickly recovers and is back in the middle again....he doesn't really try to roll. The teeth thing doesn't worry me that much I guess, it's the rolling bit. All of the bubs in my baby buddies thread are rolling now and some even sitting up and some even trying to stand....![]()
Hun dont stress DS1 was slow at everything!!!
He rolled tummy to back 5 months
Back to front 8 months
Sat un assisted 9 months
Comando crawl 10 months
1st 2 teeth 11 months
Crawled hands and knees 13 months
2 more teeth 14 months
Walked 21 months.
Still not talking as much as should and is 27 months
Every baby in mothers group was doing everything a lot faster than DS1 and I got upset that he was never first for anything! But now they all run around and play together!
DS2 rolling both ways 4 - 5 months
Sitting 6 months
They all are sooooo different, relax and enjoy him.
All babies are different. And "no" I don't believe yours is a late starter. He just isn't ready to do all these things some 'expect' him to yet.
One of mine started making goo-gaa noises at 5.5mths [and hasn't stopped since!!!]
One didn't sit up until 11mths
One didn't walk until 17mths...
Late according to some... but not to me
Give him time, when he's good and ready he'll make you wonder WHY you wanted him to! lol
My boy was pretty much the same. No teeth until 9 months old. Didn't crawl until 10.5 months old, nearly 11 months... Walked two weeks after his birthday. He didn't roll around much at all until he was around 8-9 months as well. And yet, he pulled himself to standing and cruised the furniture a few weeks before he crawled. He took a long time to get started, but once he got started it all went very quickly.
Your baby is still very much within the bounds of normal. And I have to say - enjoy having a baby that stays were you put him because life gets really crazy after that! But ultimately, they all do things within their own time frame and you certainly don't have cause to worry just yet.
BW
Not alone and I agree with PP's, they'll do it in their own time.
Brendan wasn't rolling at 7 months, let alone anything else.
Are you worried about this yourself? or is it just when you get with a group of parents (e.g mother's group) and hear what other bubs are doing?
it's hard to listen to the progress of other bubs, and NOT compare your own child with those bubs.
the "in their own time" thang, is hard to listen to, when it SEEMS every other child you know of, is already rolling etc.
my child didn't talk until THREE and i drove myself inside out, worrying about that. Now she's a chatterbox (nearly four now). The whole time i was stressing, people told me "she'll talk in her own time". i was fine with her, just her and me. It was in situations with other kids her age (and mums) that i would doubt myself. We went thru a few years of speech therapy. But in the end, she spoke when she was ready.
A wise nurse once told me, if your child's skin tone is good, if their eyes look bright, if they respond to you and are interested (curious) in the world around them, that's all that really matters.
I remember having to use teething gel around the age of your bub. no teeth to speak of, but underneath her gums, the teeth were moving up and down - making room for the tooth to come thru later on.
Is this your first bub? i've only had one and so many people tell me, you stress with your first, over every little thing, and then relax more with your 2nd, 3rd babies - cos by then you've worked out, worrying don't change nuttin'. and they do get thru their stages, whether we stress or not. (hard to believe that one, when you're in the middle of it, i know).
theres so much variation too. some kids do very little movement, then walk WITHOUT crawling. stuff like that. jumping stages.
good luck with the wait. time is so weird with a bub. some things drag, others whizz by so fast.
Charlotte didn't cut teeth until she was 9.5 months.. so don't stress on that - I still miss the gumminess! lol
She also only rolled back to front once that I ever saw.
She would sit but never sit herself up from lying down itms. As in, she would sit if I sat her but never did it herself. Ever that I saw.
Having said that, she walked at 10.5 months... So I think each baby is different, and each milestone itself is different. There are some that never crawl, some that never sit, some walk late but can converse in sentences by 18months.. lol
My wee one is 16.5 months and has no interest in walking. He knee walks, faster then a lot of kids his age can walk. Tis a rather funny sight.
No teeth until 10.5 months...then 6 in the space of a few weeks!
My Ds3 didn't sit till 8 months, He did roll once at 7 months and then never did it again till he was 12 months.
He did start crawling at 9.5 months and was walking at 12 months..
Jacob had teeth though but was a great sleeper. and he was a big boy too.
Personally I think Jacob was just so content as his older siblings got him everything he pointed to. As I said above he was a big boy so I think that is why he also had trouble rolling and he hated tummy time

Big hugs Hun.
Hamish was 6 and a half months old before he rolled from back to tummy and has really only been sitting up now by himself for around a month. He would roll onto his side for weeks but never completely over until one day he decided that he would go all the way over. And all he was doing was reaching for my feet! Cam will do it all when he is ready. But if you are concerned have a chat with your health nurse xx
sweet. Gigi has given great advise. The other piece I will add is that babies don't read the recommendations we set for them.
Your little guy is doing just fine. He's not slow.
All babies are different hun! We have babies in my mothers group that arent rolling and a few that are almost walking and theyre All happy!
Is he very tall? My chn said taller babies take a little longer cos they have so much to move! It fits with the bub in our mg that isnt rolling yet but i dunno how true it is.
Either way he will be up and revving in no time and you wont know what hit you!!
Hugs to you, this is my 1st time parenting and when i hear about other ppls babies doing things and mine hasnt yet its hard not to think omg when is my baby going to do that. So like most of the previous posters have said they will do it in their own time when they are ready. I definately think thats true. If your bub seems perfectly happy and healthy then I wouldnt worry, but as others said u can always speak to your CHN if your concerned
Thanks so much everyone for your replies. I would have replied earlier but my internet dropped off for a few days.
You have really put my mind at ease I have to say! I know he will do his things in his own time. Today I've noticed that he is trying to commando crawl! That is so funny, I thought that first they roll, then they sit up, then crawl and then walk! So now I'm thinking I'll just go with the flow!
Gigi, to answer your question, I don't worry about it myself, I worry from reading stuff in my baby buddy thread and compare DS to the other babies his age. So it really is hard not to take notice what the other bubs his age are doing. But I will relax now and let him lead the way! Thanks hun
Thanks again everyone!
