    Toddler walking - Uneven?

    Hi,

Just wanted a bit of perspective on the topic of my darling daughters toddle. She began walking about 6 weeks ago, and still has her hands up high in the air (for balance I suppose).
Well the bit that I find unusual is this. She is very left handed. She is pretty much as competent with her right hand, but she definately prefers her left. Anyway, when she walks, she has her left hand out in front and her right hand up above and she kind of leads her body with her left hand. So much so that her left shoulder etc are in front of her right. So she kind of looks like she would go around in circles but she does go in a straight line. Mabye when she starts walking with her arms down this will go away? Anyone think this is of concern? Seems a bit silly to go and see a doctor but just curious if anyone has any experience with this?

    Thanks IA

I remember that someone commented that my DS looked like a little zombie when he started walking because he had his arms stuck out (was a bit offended at the time but they were right lol). I would wait a bit until she stops having her arms out for balance and then if it still looks odd, mention it to a dr.

My DD had a stronger leg and was more likely to fall one way. She'd actually drag her left foot most of the time too. I asked a paed and they said every child does have a stronger side and if it kept up for about 2 months get it checked. She walks fantastic now so it wasn't really a concern iykwim. she actually walks and swings her arms now, so cute!
