I've searched for a tutorial on making fabric covered magnets but can only find ones that use the little button magnets...what I want to do is make some magnets for DD to play with, so (ideally) I want to cut out letters and some animal shapes and cover them with fabric to stick on the fridge for her.
I saw a FB business that does this (would like to have a crack at it myself though!) but I don't know where to start.
Had a look on ebay for magnetic sheets, but all I can seem to find is either magnetic strips, which wouldn't be wide enough to do what I want to, or magnetic paper. I have no idea what magnetic paper is, but would it be strong enough to stick on the fridge covered in fabric and not be destroyed by DD? Or maybe I would just be better off not having the whole shape as a magnet but cutting up the magnetic strips into squares and glueing a few them onto each one...
If anyone has any ideas or any blogs they can point me to that would be great
Found a tutorial. Yay! If anyone is interested the blog is called BluDor blog (just search the blog for magnets or look in the Baby/Toy section, or pm me for the link, not sure if I'm allowed to post it here). The spelling/grammar is very shudder-worthy but it's the closest thing i could find to what I've got pictured in my head!
Just bought some magnets online so will wait for them to arrive then get started..not that I need to add anything more to my sewing 'to do' list..it's already about a mile long
