So DH has decided that we are doing well enough to put on an apprentice - YAY US!!
Anyway this means I seriously have to get my butt into gear as I am the admin person - its been ok just being DH, I can muddle through, but with an apprentice now, wooo that gets a bit tricky.
Is there anyone who can give me some advice on how to get started? Where should I look for information?
What are our obligations? What do we need to pay? We are an electrical business so it'll be an electrical apprenticeship.
Any advice appreciated! Off to google in the meantime...
yep get onto the government websites and have a look, I googled apprenticeships and it links you to the relevant government sites. Most of the awards have been streamlines so while they are wordy they are a lot clearer then some of the older awards. There are incentives for you to put on an apprentice and lot's of rules an regulations but it is definitely a good sign for you business if you are looking at puttin on someone else
I know I spoke to the wage line and they gave me some advice on the best way to read the awards and after that it made a lot more sense then when I first looked at them. Goodluck and there are lot's of people out there to ask so if you are unsure about anything ask as many people as you can and where they get thier info from. Often it is all online so you can make up your own mind.
