    URGENT - Pay rate?

A friend of mine thinks she is getting underpaid, she is 19 and works part time hours in a fast food place..

Currently she is getting $11.22 for weekdays and $12 for weekends.

    This doesnt sound right?

Could depend on outside factors like if she is enrolled in traineeship etc.
Or if she is on probation. At adult wage I.was getting $15ish dollars while on probation last year.
She.needs to look at the instrument (award) she is employed under and also prob call SDA for advice. Has she recently had a birthday? It could be an honest error so she should.probably speak to her employers first

Have a look online but if you dont understand the classifications etc, get her to ring Wageline tomorrow they are very helpful..
Payrates in hospitality can vary depending on duties also.

It would depened on whether she's covered by the Fast Food award or not.

I've just looked at the Award. Under the Modern Fast Food award the weekly rate for full time is $626.00 and she's entitled to 80% of that becuase she's 19. She should be getting about $13 an hour but then she might not be covered under the award. She could be getting 80% of the minimum wage, which is just under $14.50 so the $11ish an hour she's getting would be correct if that's the case.

She should ring Fairwork Australia and find out whether she's covered by the award, if it's a big business then she would definitely be covered but if it's a small business she may or may not be.
