    Feeding 5 1/2 month old

    Hi,

I know every baby is different but just wondering how often your baby breast fed at 5 1/2 months? Phoebe seems to have suddenly decided that she doesn't want as much milk. We have introduced solids but only a little bit and I only ever offer them after a feed.

I'm not concerned about her weight as she is nearly 8 kg's and jumped a line on the charts!

She currently feeds 4-6 times a day.

    Any feedback is appreciated!

6 feeds would be at the low end of normal. But, it may be that she's more efficient at feeding now. Have you also introduced other liquids for her as well as solids?
It could also be a temporary change in her feeding routine, maybe just play it by ear and see how it goes. She's certainly a good weight

Thanks for the replies. She does have water but only when she eats - and I don't think she actually gets much if any, more chews on the spout. She is definately efficient, she only has one side (always has) but has started feeding for longer. She used to be done in 5-10 mins but now feeds for about 15.

I'm not worried, just wanting to get a feel for what other bubs have done/ are doing.

    Hi,

She sounds exactly like ds2. He's just over 5mts, and feeds 6 times a day. Same thing, he's just recently extended his feeds to about 20mins a feed and only ever has 1 side each time.

I haven't started him on solids yet, we're doing baby led solids when he gets a bit older.

At that age DS was feeding 8-10 times but was only feeding for minutes at a time

DS was feeding quite frequently at that age - probably about 10 or 12 times a 24 hr period (many at night unfortunately...)..

Thanks everyone - definately some varied feedings. After worrying about her not feeding as much she fed plenty yesterday, and woke 3 times overnight for a feed! Guess they are just going to keep us guessing.

they never stay consistent for long,eh?

i don't count ds feeds (because i'm lazy XD) but i know he had a bit of a drop off around 5 months too... or he'd feed but just fluff around most of the time... dunno why!

    Same here, on all points
