Post Any Family Day Care provider/Educators on Bellybelly

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to know if any members are family day care providers? If so, how many children do you care for in your home? How day days and hours? Is the pay good or worth it? I am looking into this for short term. Is the agency you work for helpful, etc. Which state are you located in?

    Kinds regards,

Hi! Whilst I'm not a FDC, I am/was a childcare worker (before I was a SAHM!!). I know a little about FDC, though not alot!
I am in NSW, I'm not sure if things are different in different states, so if you're in a differnt state, you should check with care providers, just in case! What I know is that:

There are strict guidlines you must abide by. If you go ahead with being a FDC provider, you will have to undergo certain testing, a police and working with children check, possibly some training and they will have to check your home to ensure it's safe ect...
The number of children you can care for depends on the ages and if/how many of your own children you are caring for
You are usually eligible for some sort of funding/grants to help with starting out
Income depends on the sort of care you provide, you decide (ie, will you provide lunches, snacks, longer hours, ect...)

    Hope that helps!
That's all I can think of! I will come back if I think of more...
