    Sneaky walker

My DD seems to be a sneaky walker. She took her first steps at 10.5 months and has been able to walk across a room unassisted for the last 2 months, but still she sits on her butt and grizzles until someone holds her hand while she walks around.

Lately she has been toddling around the lounge but she couldn't possibly go any further. But.....when she thinks no one is watching, she walks where ever she wants!

Today when she didn't know we were watching, DH and I saw her walk halfway down the hall, pick up a toy and go back to the lounge -then we she saw us she plonked down on her bum and started whinging and holding her hand up for us to lead her around! I have heard her walking past when I am in the toilet and when I come out she is at the other end of the house but again she just sits down and pretends she didn't get there on her own!

It is getting quite frustrating knowing that she is perfectly capable of walking and yet she won't do it! She started crawling a couple of weeks ago but she won't do that to go anywhere by herself either. She is too heavy to keep carrying around!

Does anyone else have a sneaky walker?

Oh yeah, we had one. She would cruise the furniture and then when you would look away and turn around to find her somewhere she could ONLY have got to by walking (she never crawled at all until well after she was walking everywhere). She was an early walker too so maybe that is something to do with it.

Yes! DD1 would walk at childcare and was walking for a good month before we knew about it! We got told by other mothers that they had seen her walking and we were saying "no she's not walking" She was a master of deception before she was 15 months old! We had to trick her into walking for us by sitting opposite each other and making a game of her walking from one of us to the other - once she had done that then she started walking at home.

It is quite cute. She is happy to walk around in front of us in the lounge, she just doesn't seem to want to admit that she can go further lol. Today I put her down on the lawn and went up on the deck - watched her walk around the entire yard for a few minutes until she returned to her original spot, sat down and started whinging because she was 'stranded'! She is trying to play us lol
