Personally I still love maxi dresses over summer, I have my havaianas thongs but for some reason I prefer them with skinny leg jeans and like leather/leather look thongs with dresses.

Look at what Sportsgirl is selling...probably the easiest way to see what's currently in fashion.
Boho style flowy tops, light coloured demin, maxi dresses, floral, sandals with stacked wooden heels

tops with ruffles/embellishment on the front on the front, longer tops with assymetrical hems, light denim...orange is a strong colour for summer, slim fit pants and capris, maxis are still in surprisingly, the younger fashion is very 80's, loose, layered, off the shoulder, all that jazz.

Maxi Dresses (which I am too short for ), Haviana's. The Gisele Bunchen style thong/sandals available from Novo.
I have seen heaps of 'pretty' around and white.
Denim never gooes out of fashion...just put back on my Skinny leg jeans, gisele bunchen thong/sandal and 3/4 sleeve top for the first time since winter, feels lovely to back in light clothing again.
    Shoes: the block heel.
And of course being Melbourne...anything black and white no matter what season Lol!
I love 3/4 pants, nice top and either ballet flats or my thong/sandals.
    Lots of pretty skirts around.
Have a wander through Chadstone, get there early then parking is no problem. GAP is open and they have heaps of good priced stores down stairs.

Yay for fashion! Lace (I am soooooo excited! ), like the others say, texture like ruffles, neutral colours. And coral colour? Allegedly. Wedges (shoes, not actual wedgies! ), kitten heels (hurrah!), and lots of the stuff others have said like Maxis.

Shirts? Are shirts in? I think I've seen lots of shirt dresses. I like those too.

Like others have said, just head to the shops and have a peek. Even online stores, I have a net-a-porter app on my iPad, so that's how I sort of stay informed, but even then they're opposite seasons to us.

Layering, lace, asymetrical hems on longer tops to layer. Ruffles, kitten heels, flowy skirts - shorter flowy skirts with 3/4 tights underneath...
Coral again - navy & white stripes...

Layering works for me being a 'bigger' girl but i'm not sure i'm up for all the frills and florals

I'm a bigger girl and never would have thought about florals but I bought a peachy floral dress, knee length and at Big W of all places (usually hate their clothes) and I really like it. Looks great with tan and gold accessories!

I do love a good frill or ruffle though, plenty of T-shirts with less in your face frills just around the neckline or down the front a little.

Oh and I'm a shorty at 165cm but I still love my maxi dresses! A short fatty wearing a maxi, someone call the fashion police

I need all the frills and ruffles I can get up top. Is that a bosom or a big ruffle? Ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies....

Oooh I'm glad maxi dresses are still in... I really want to buy more of these, very flattering.
I'd also like to buy a pair of clog sandals... I'm seeing them everywhere... they look durable unlike most sandals.
I like the colour range that's in too: whites, taupes, corals.
My staple over summer are long flowing 100% cotton tiered skirts.... so cool... the fabric kinda swirls cool air around your legs as you walk... so much more comfortable than jeans.
